What you should know This is the second phase of the film making process (after development). You engage in this phase once you have secured financing for your project and your the final draft of your script has been written. The main objective of this task is to assemble your team, derive a schedule, finalize your budget and secure your locations. Assuming you have secured all of your above the line talent, one of the first things you'll need to do is hire your casting director to cast the remaining roles of the film. Have him/her start searching for and narrowing down the actors to approximately 5-10 for each role. While your casting director is doing that you can assemble the rest of your crew.
